You must have experienced that when you try to install or open a
program or a website that according to you is completely safe but Avast doesn’t
allow you to access it. This happens because of low occurrence of application
in Avast community. This is the reason that Avast can’t make out if that
particular program or website is safe or not and as it doesn’t want to take any
risk it blocks it. This is known as “False positive”, where the antivirus
recognizes the genuine program as wrong. When the software blocks anything it
will send a notification to the user informing about it.
The user always has an option to add secure programs and websites
to the exclusion list. Once you add them in exclusion, Avast will not consider
them as a threat anymore. Thus, you have to be really sure that the program is
secure because they won’t be scanned after being added to exclusion. If you
have any doubt about any program, then consult our technicians on Avast Contact Number UK.
To Add Folder/ Files/
Programs/ Applications to the Whitelist:
·
Pen Avast user interface.
·
Now go to Settings and then
click on General.
·
Look for the tab
“Exclusions” and then add the specific program/ application/ file or folder to
the “File path” tab.
This way added applications or paths will be excluded from Avast
scanning. But the process for excluding
websites and URLs is different. You can follow the instructions given below
for that:
·
Open Avast User interface
and click on Settings.
·
Now press the General tab
button.
·
Search for “Exclusions” tab
and add the websites or URLs in the “URLs” tab.
This will exclude the website or domain from being scanned by
Avast. Now let us talk about adding Avast
Shield in the exclusion. For that directions are given below:
·
Open Avast user interface
and go to Settings.
·
Now click on Active
Protection and select the Shield (File System/ Mai/ Web Shield) for which you
want to add an exception.
·
After that, click on
Customize link.
·
Then find Exclusion and add
the item of the specific shield. (You can also decide when that exclusion
applies)
We are not done yet, if you want Avast exclusion to work then you
need to restart all Avast shields other the software will keep detecting them
as threats. You can also report about false positive detection of Avast to our
customer care executives on our Avast Toll Free Number UK. These experts will definitely provide you help for the
same.
